1. Data Access

This project provides the following publicly available data resources for academic research and informational reference:

1.1 CA-TPU Monthly Index Data

Monthly CA-TPU index data is available from January 2013 to the present, including raw index values and the three-month trailing moving average (MA3). Data can be downloaded in CSV format. An interactive line chart is provided on the homepage, supporting custom date range selection, zooming, and panning.

1.2 Daily News Collection Statistics

To facilitate further analysis and data auditing, the project publishes the most recent 10,000 daily statistical records, aggregated by date and country, showing total news volume, OR hits, AND hits, and corresponding ratios. These can be queried and downloaded on the "Daily Stats" page.

1.3 Article-Level Keyword Matching Data

The project also publishes the most recent 10,000 article-level keyword matching results, including publication date, country, source outlet, detailed matching results for each keyword category (T/P/U), and OR/AND flags. These can be queried and downloaded on the "Raw Data" page.

For content compliance and intellectual property protection, the public datasets do not include news article headlines, original URLs, or full-text content. The original text copyrights belong to the respective media outlets. This project only performs keyword matching analysis on the texts and publishes the matching results — it does not redistribute the original news content. Researchers who need to access specific original articles are advised to search directly on the relevant media websites.

1.4 Full Historical Data & Contact

For academic research requiring full historical data (the complete news database dating back to 2009, containing over 3.08 million articles), or for academic collaboration and other inquiries, please leave a message on the Contact page and we will respond promptly.

When using data or reports from this project, please cite according to the following guidelines. Proper citation helps the academic community trace data sources and acknowledges the research team's work.

The index data, statistical data, and monthly reports published by this project are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

You are free to:

• Use the data for academic research, teaching, and policy analysis

• Reprocess and create derivative analyses from the data
• Share and redistribute under the terms of the license

Under the following conditions:

4. Project Statement

The CA-TPU Index is an independent academic research project initiated and led by Prof. Zhang Lijie's team at the School of Economics and Management, Xinjiang University. It is a non-profit, fundamental research endeavor. This project has not received funding or donations from any government agencies, business entities, natural persons, or other potential research subjects in Central Asian countries. The research design, data collection, index construction, and publication of findings are entirely independent and free from the influence of any external interested parties.
